When Thor first came out a female client asked if I had seen it.  I said no, and asked if there was lots of fighting and action.  She told me she hadn’t noticed, she was too enthralled with Thor’s voice.  Another female client asked me if I saw Thor and I asked her about the action.  She said she didn’t recall but Thor took his shirt off.  A third girl wasn’t feeling energized at the beginning of our session so I suggested she watch Thor before coming in next time.  She said she wasn’t interested in Thor but she did want his hammer.

If you are not feeling motivated get in a mind set and start a pattern.  Choose a couple of t-shirts or muscle shirts or halter-tops or whatever you like to wear.  Pick a couple of shorts or exercise pants.  Fold them and place them where you will see them (dresser, table).  If your workout clothes are in line of sight, they are constantly reminding you.

Most people wear the same clothes in the gym.  Wearing those clothes means it’s workout time.

Play music at home that perks you up.  Watch part of a movie (people watched the Pumping Iron movies for years before a workout).

Get in the mind-set and get to the gym.  It is true that once you get there you will say, “We’ll I’m here I might as well start.”

Lou Ferrigno has said that if he’s working out and not motivated after 15 minutes he’ll stop.  However, 99% of the time once you get going you will keep going.

A scenario to contemplate is, if your job is cerebral, and you have a long drive to work, it’s your mind that’s tired, not your body.  Try it sometime.  If you feel exhausted go for a walk or to the gym.  See how refreshed you feel afterwards.

Until Next Week!

I was a poet first, but became a fantasy fiction writer in high school after reading The Hobbit, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, and The Sword of Shannara. After completing my dual major in Anthropology and History at WLU and reading The Forever War, I Robot, and numerous Star Wars books, I also started writing science fiction.
