Switching Trainers Sept. 10, 2016
A girl, between 40-50 years old came up to me and said she would like me to train her instead of Jon. I told her, I was a bit confused sine I considred Jon to be an excellent trainer.
She said, “I know but he’s so young, I feel like I’m being trained by my son.”
So a few days later Jon came over to me with her. She turned to Jon and said, “You’re so handsome I’m worried my husband will get jealous,” and she kissed him on the cheek.
When she turned to me I had upraised eyebrows.
If your not comfortable with the trainer you’re with, change. I trained a female client for awhile but couldn’t make an appointment so a female trainer worked with her that day instead. The female client told me it was nothing personal but she was more comfortable with the female trainer. On another occasion a female client just didn’t feel comfortable in a gym that included men so she switched to an all female gym.
There is a disadvantage to switching between too many trainers. It takes time for a trainer to learn what works and what doesn’t for you.
Think about your goals, learn what the trainers at the gym specialize in, and observe the trainer your interested in. Get on a cardio machine and watch how they train their clients and talk to some of their clients.
