Poor Posture to Positive Posture

Poor Posture to Positive Posture                      Saturday Nov. 19, 2016

Poor posture starts with rounded shoulders followed by a lowered chin that leads to leaning forwards with the eyes always towards the ground.

I asked Taylor if we could take some new Soup Can Workshop pictures.  The original ones had her wearing a Ruby t-shirt from the Children of the Myth Machine science fiction/fantasy series I’ve started writing, and me with a Sylvia t-shirt.  I looked at the images and realized people were going to think her name is Ruby and I’m Sylvia.   We decided to meet on a Saturday at the Perimeter Institute living wall at Waterloo Park to redo the pictures.

I gathered up my sick niece Andraya to take pictures again.  As we drove down the congested University Street Andraya pointed out the millions and millions of parents and their kids at the universities.  She said it must be frosh week.  I looked for the parking lot Taylor took us to the last time but couldn’t find it.  We parked at a parking lot and started down the path we hoped led to the Perimeter Insitute.  And twenty minutes late, voila! We saw Taylor and Kyle.  Taylor told me we couldn’t find the original parking lot because they built the LRT over it. At 10 a.m. in the morning it was freezing so we took the pictures as fast as possible.

In the past we used Kyle as the unwillingy guinea pig during our workshops.  He would ask afterwards if we could teach him proper form but we said, no, it would look fake.

Help someone with poor posture—don’t bully them!

I was a poet first, but became a fantasy fiction writer in high school after reading The Hobbit, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, and The Sword of Shannara. After completing my dual major in Anthropology and History at WLU and reading The Forever War, I Robot, and numerous Star Wars books, I also started writing science fiction.
