Book Review of “The Pain-Free Program” by Anthony B. Carey,M.A, C.S.C.S.

I just completed a Functional Training Specialist Program through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) who I’m certified through.

Part of the curriculum was Anthony B. Carey’s “The Pain-Free Program”. Comparing it to my own observations of over twenty years of personal fitness training I found it very straight forward.

The book shows 6 different Forms (postures) and breaks down the stretches and exercises for each form into: physical workers (construction, etc.), dexterity workers (computer programmers, etc.), multi-taskers (postal workers, etc.).

Using a plumb line to analyse posture he suggests standing with a normal posture first to see if there is any misalignment and if there is what Form would your body be in. The centre of the plumb line is between your feet.

I suggest, if you get the book, having someone take pictures in a relaxed position.

The book is printed through Wiley and the barcode is:

ISBN 978-0-471-68720-7

Analysing Posture examples:

Lines are areas to observe for alignment.

I was a poet first, but became a fantasy fiction writer in high school after reading The Hobbit, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, and The Sword of Shannara. After completing my dual major in Anthropology and History at WLU and reading The Forever War, I Robot, and numerous Star Wars books, I also started writing science fiction.
