A humorous yet awkward story first: Years ago I took the Canadian Physical Activity Fitness Lifestyle Approach [CPAFLA] through McMaster University. At the conclusion of the course we met at the Prof’s house. Me and about seven girls to test each other with measuring tapes and calipers.
Importance of Proper Posture
Both Gloria and Arla are standing in proper or neutral posture. This keeps the spine aligned, the organs where they should be (not squished) and makes breathing a lot easier.

(Deep) Diaphragmatic breathing can be described as abdominal breathing that is done by contracting the diaphragm muscle, which sits horizontally between the thoracic cavity and abdominal cavity.

I call this the sciatic stretch. You never stretch a nerve but you can stretch the muscles around the nerve if they are tight and putting pressure on the nerve.
